Our school had an independence day ceremony on Tuesday, August 16th. Opening began with two teachers marching towards the middle of the gym. They faced each other and said something in Bahasa Indonesia which i didn't understand. I bet it was something very important.
Three students from Primary six walked straight to the flag pole. A girl who was between two boys was holding the flag of Indonesia. When they reached the pole, the two boys received the flag from the girl and attached the flag to the pole. It took quite a long time. The first time they raised the flag with their hands, it fell down. They had to reattach the flag. Waiting for awhile was very tiring, my knees started dancing, that time i thought i was going to faint any second. Finally the flag was raised, we sang the National Anthem. If it was last year, i wouldn't have been able to sing this song: i haven't had remembered the lyrics yet. But till now i do not understand what it means.
The first section of the ceremony was done. The next section was performance of each class from Primary three up to Secondary four. The small young kids performance was very cute. They way they sang and danced, if my class did it, it would have been horrible. Primary six was one of my favorite class that had performed. Most of the instrument players were girls, the singers were five boys. The singers had little movement of the body, it reminded me of super junior. They have a chance to be the next generation of super junior.
After the secondary one's performance it was secondary two and four, my class's turn. It was a little depressing that i could not join it as a bassist. Last time i practiced a lot for the performance though, i had to go to Bali so i passed the baton to Casey, she played the bass for me. I like this sing they performed. I have heard it many times but i still do not know the title. I understand a little about white and red, so i am guessing its something related to independence day since we played it at the ceremony.
Every class's performance came to an end. We had a break for about 20 minutes. The break was over, it was game time. Each class played a game for about 10-15 minutes. We are Secondary 4, so of course our game came the last. Waiting for it seemed like, forever. When it was about 15 minutes till 11am, it was our turn to play like small kids. We had a race, everyone including the Junior College will be paired up. The rules of the game was that we had to held hands with our pair and goal. But it wasn't just goal, we had to balance this object on our head. My pair was Casey, we were i think leading when the object fell off my head. We were so close to the goal. It was very sad, we could have won free lunch at the canteen. The winners were my classmates, Jesslyn and Yozellyn. They make such a cute pair together.
My first Independence Day ceremony finished. I was glad that it was done and nothing happened. I believe it was a big successful event. Happy 66th birthday Indonesia!
